Fetishizing the domestic, 2006
The Fetishizing of Domestic Life — The goal of the Fetishizing the domestic project is to make the seemingly ordinary, extraordinary, by fetishizing domestic life and imbuing it with an air of magic. Karen received a Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec grant to produce this projet.
L'objectif du projet Fétichisme des arts ménagers est de transcender l'apparente banalité des arts ménagers par leur fétichisation, leur infusant une dose de magie, et de remettre en question l'espace domestique vu comme lieu passif. Karen a été récipiendaire d’une bourse du Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec en 2005-2006 pour la production de ce projet.

Stretching my skin over the city, 2006
Stretching my skin over the city treats the body as a marvelous
landscape in which natural phenomenon is slowly emerging, engaging the
viewer to challenge their fears of aging. By transposing the little-used
corners of the city over the body, one can take the time to meditate on these profound changes that mark our lives. My favourite landscape is one that is left abandoned and allowed to follow
a natural transformation.
Tendre ma peau sur la ville, en traitant le corps comme un paysage de poésie et d'emerveillement où se déploient lentement tous ces phénomènes naturels, interpelle le spectateur et questionne sa peur du vieillissement. Devant les terrains vagues de la ville transposés sur le corps, chacun est invité à s'arrêter un instant et à contempler ces signes qui nous transforment. Mon paysage préféré est un lieu tranquille et négligé où naturellement s'opèrent de lentes et subtiles transformations.

A Digital Mandal of Women's Communities — Mandala is sanskrit for "circle with a centre". Mandala is used in various cultures as a teaching device or a viewing place for meditation.
Un mandala numérique de communautés de femmes — « Mandala » est un terme sanskrit qui évoque l’idée du cercle autour d’un axe central. Le mandala est également un support visuel pour la méditation et l’enseignement.

Pudenda, 2001
A Playful View of the Female Pudenda — The goal of the Pudenda project is the demystification of the pudenda. “Pudenda” refers to the outer genitalia of women and girls. It is a Latin term that means “shame”. Through print media and Flash animation, I created various scenarios that are playful and light to counter this “shameful” meaning.
L'objectif du projet Pudenda est la démystification des pudenda. « Pudenda » désigne les parties génitales externes des femmes et des filles. Il s’agit d’un terme latin qui signifie « honte ». À travers une série d'estampes et d'animations Flash, j'ai créé différents scénarios amusants et légers afin de contrecarrer cette signification « honteuse ».
